LeBron James is having to make sure he keeps his eyes open during a moment of extreme emotion.
In an interview with Fox Sports’ The Herd, James talked about the reaction he has received to his new Nike Air Max shoes.
“I’ve had a few people tell me that I should take off my glasses,” James said.
“They said I should wear some type of protective mask.
I’ve been wearing the same Nike Air Minis for a couple of years now, and that’s not how I feel.”
James also took some time to discuss his personal struggles.
“My wife’s in her 40s, and she has an eating disorder,” James told The Herds.
“She’s been going to rehab.
She’s been on medications, she’s had a lot of surgery, and my daughter was born at my house.”
James has not been as vocal about his personal life, but he did speak to the Herd about his wife, her eating disorder and the difficulties he faces with the team.
“Sometimes I’m at my worst, when I’m just not feeling well,” James explained.
“So when I see these pictures, it’s not just about me.
I think that people have been seeing the images of me that are very distressing.”
In addition to his struggles with his personal health, James also spoke about the negative effects that the recent mass shooting in Las Vegas had on him.
“It was just a crazy day,” James revealed.
“You know, I had a family and friends that were all over the country that I was with.
It was so sad.
And when you’re at that point, and you’re just not in the mood to be doing that, you have to go, ‘I’m going to be in the best shape of my life, I’m going a lot faster than I ever have before.
And that’s what I’ve done.'”
